Bite it and write it.
That's what we do. Fueled by butterbeans & collard greens.
to me it really depends on the frosting...
Yeah, the frosting and the moistness of the cake....how was it?
You guys are right. It's the frosting that makes the cake. The cake could taste horrible, but the frosting is what everyone will remember. It was awesome! Real buttercream with no shortening or sweetex to mess up the flavor. The cake was made with egg whites, I could tell. It wasn't salty/sweet/mass-produced like some cakes are.My favorite part was the little plume of ribbons in the corner.
My Mom is a wonderful baker and she makes delicious cakes, but for some crazy reason, when growing up, us kids only wanted the bakery cake from the local grocery store for our birthdays! Lots of super-sweet icing shaped like roses, icing borders, icing, icing, icing... You never would have guessed that Dad was a dentist!!!The one which you posted looks incredibly good-- but where's the chocolate??? :)~Vicci
Ha ha ha.Have you stumbled across Cakewrecks yet? Google it!
Vicci: LOL@ you and your siblings. I preferred homemade as a kid and I still do. Only once did I receive a crappy cake for a birthday. My favorite, red velvet, was destroyed by one of my mom's well-meaning friends. I never told her how awful the cake was.No chocolate here. As much as I eschew it and say I don't like it, it's about the only kindof dessert I consistently make.CC: Girl yeah, I have! I'm a fan of their group on Facebook too. There would be uprisings in the streets if someone tried to make me buy one of those horrid cakes I ordered.
Look at you on TV! You are a natural. After my Wilton Classes I avoid store bought cakes because I can just feel all that shortneing and sugar. But I guess it depends on the store and type of cake.
Courtney: Thanks! I just need my own show right? People think I'm crazy when I tell them I can taste the shortening, which tastes like plastic.Emiline: I know. I have to leave the decorating to the professionals.
the cake is nice, but I'm a whipped cream type of dude.
